RM Auctions Monterey - Schumachers F1-Ferrari aus der Saison 2000
Der von RM Auctions angebotene Ferrari F1-2000 verhalf Michael Schumacher in der Saison 2000 zu seinem 1. von 5 Forme-1-Fahrertiteln mit Ferrari in Folge. Es war der erste Fahrertitel für die Scuderia seit 1979. Der 770 PS starke Rennwagen mit der Chassisnummer 198 war eigentlich ein Test- und Ersatzauto, kam aber in der Weltmeistersaison 2000 mehrfach zum Einsatz: In Brasilien zum Beispiel gewann Michael Schumacher mit dem Auto und belegte in Spanien den fünften Platz.
Beim Brasilien-Grand-Prix feierte Michael Schumacher mit diesem Ferrari F1-2000 seinen zweiten Formel-1-Sieg in Folge. Während des Rennwochenendes in Interlagos musste er nach einem Schaden am Unterboden seines ursprünglichen Einsatzautos in den Ersatzwagen umsteigen. Von Position drei startend holte der Deutsche unter anderem gegen die McLaren-Mercedes-Piloten Mika Häkkinen und David Coulthard den Sieg. Mit insgesamt 10 Erfolgen in der Saison 2000 wurde Schumacher Weltmeister.
Beim Grand Prix von Spanien fuhr Schumacher mit Chassis 198 zum ersten Mal in der Saison die erste Startposition heraus. Im Rennen auf dem Circuit de Catalunya führte er auch lange, doch durch einen Defekt am Tankrüssel beim Boxenstopp sowie einen schleichenden Plattfuß kam Schumacher nur auf den fünften Platz. Am Samstag, den 16. August 2014, wird der ehemalige Ferrari F1-2000 von Michael Schumacher bei RM Auctions mit einem Estimate von 1.75 bis 2.5 Millionen Euro versteigert.
Interessantes Detail: 2008 bot RM Auctions diesen Formel-1-Ferrari aus der Weltmeistersaison 2000 schon einmal an. Damals wurde Schumachers Siegerauto von Brasilien bei einem Höchstgebot von 800 000 Euro nicht verkauft. In Monterey soll der Monoposto im August mehr als das Dreifache dieses Preises einbringen.
