According to BMW archives this 507 was produced on 11.01.1959 and was first delivered in 14.04.1959 to the BMW importer Max Hoffman?s Fadex Commercial Corp., located at 487 Park Avenue in New York City. The original VDO gauges situated in the dash read in MPH and Fahrenheit, further suggesting the US market as initial destination.

A higher performance second series example, featuring increased engine capacity of the all-aluminum V8 as well as a revised dashboard and a roomier cockpit, accommodating taller drivers.

By the 1960s, this BMW 507 is known to have been owned by a Mr. Lacklan M. Mackenzie of Staten Island, and then later, in the 1970s and 1980s, the car was in the hands of Mr. Shane ONeil of RKO General, Inc, New York, grandson of RKO founder, the renowned Hollywood film studio.

A sympathetic restoration was performed in the late 1980s, at which time the striking BMW is believed to have received its previous Black exterior color. Post restoration, the 507 is known to have appeared at various Concours dElegance events with much success. The car was acquired by the previous prominent collector in the early 1990s and has since been kept in a climate-controlled environment.

Prior to the most recent restoration this stunning 507 Series II Roadster was presented in beautiful condition, and close inspection indicated that the car retains much of its originality and appears not to have been taken apart of neglected in its past. Original components are present and in situ, including the Behr radiator, and many Bosch and Knecht ancillary components.

The chrome and brightwork appeared to be largely original, and still in wonderful condition. A very rare original Becker Mexico radio is fitted in the dash.

Recently restored to its original blue metallic colour and finished with new leather, carpets and Soft top in Cognac
